Spending over three decades at the Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI) in Lucknow, Anand’s leadership as director from 1974 to 1984 propelled the institute’s medicinal chemistry division to new heights.

At the core of his work lay a deep-seated commitment to leveraging synthetic chemistry for the creation of novel drugs.

By delving into the intricacies of drug-receptor interactions and metabolism, Anand paved the way for more precise and efficacious medications.

Holding esteemed positions such as Chairman of the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission’s scientific committee and Chairman of Ranbaxy Science Foundation, he wielded influence far beyond academia.
