A 26-year-old woman, who turned to the hookup business to fund her goitre surgery, has received overwhelming support from compassionate Nigerians through crowdfunding efforts.

In a video interview conducted by street comedian Comicmiss2 on Facebook, the woman, whose identity remains undisclosed, shared her health struggles and financial challenges, leading to her decision to engage in the hookup business.
Speaking about her situation, she emphasized that her involvement in the hookup business was out of necessity rather than choice. Describing her goitre condition, she revealed her efforts to raise funds for surgery since November 2023.
“I started in November 2023. I have made money but I have this health issue. This is the major thing that brought me to the street. To get money and pull it out. I know that God will surely help me,” she expressed.

The woman clarified that she had accumulated some funds, approximately 150,000 naira, which were kept in her sister’s account. However, she noted that the surgery cost was around 700,000 naira, indicating her struggle to cover the expenses.
“I swear on my mum’s grave, I will stop doing it. There is no life in hookup. Because I am doing it doesn’t mean that’s what I wish to do,” she emphasized.
Following the circulation of her interview, Nigerians mobilized on various social media platforms to raise funds to support her surgery. Despite the challenges, she remained hopeful, expressing gratitude for the support received.
“We’ve raised only 36k. Guys please your help will go a long way,” she appealed in her last message on Sunday, April 21, 2024.
