Call it the Hollywood effect but is it that easy to acquire a foreign accent even though one is a celebrity who has been born and bred in Nigeria?

Some people believe that extensive travelling can make one acquire an accent which hitherto, he/she didn’t possess. Is this believe factual? I have no idea but I hope that the following celebrities who have acquired foreign accents, some of which are utterly ridiculous will be able to tell;

1. Wizkid

Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, The Star Boy definitely discovered his accent when he went on a trip to the galaxy. So if you hear him speak, you shouldn’t be bothered. He’s the Star Boy, remember…..One who dwells in the galaxy!!

2. Tonto Dikeh

Tonto Dikeh

She revels in her foreign accent especially when she’s starring in those Nollywood ‘bad girl roles’.

3. Tekno

It’s of little wonder that he’s known as the Igbo Chris Brown. If you want to see Tekno unveil his foreign accent to you, just find a way to get him pissed. Remember Tekno’s epic video when he was reacting to the Skiibii death stunt?

4. Toke Makinwa

Toke Makinwa

The popular media personality has a bag of accents up her sleeves and she chooses them at will.

5. Ice Prince

Ice Prince

His foreign accent needs to be melted but since he is still Ice, we have no choice but to listen to him with our mouths wide open.

6. John Obi Mikel

John Obi Mikel

I’m more than a hundred percent sure that most people were shocked the first time they heard him speak. But well, he left Nigeria at an early age so his accent is quite understandable.

8. Davido

He tries so hard to sound like a Hollywood superstar. At least, his recent interview with BBNaija’s Ebuka gave him away……..Davido is trying but the Nigerian blood in him is just too much.
