Niels Giffey is a basketball small forward who also plays as a shooting guard for Bayern Munich of the German Basketball Bundesliga (BBL), and the Germany national team.

Giffey was born on June 8, 1991, Berlin, Germany, and had represented Germany during the EuroBasket 2022.

Giffey had a successful collegiate career playing at the University of Connecticut, where he helped the team win the NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournament on two occasions.

Giffey had been undrafted in 2014, and at the time, he played summer basketball with the Memphis Grizzlies and the Utah Jazz.

Giffey was later signed by the German team Alba Berlin, where he served as captain.

During his time with the team, he helped them win the German national championship, and the German Cup tournament.

Giffey has additionally played with Žalgiris Kaunas of the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL), and UCAM Murcia of the Liga ACB.

In 2022, he signed a three-year contract with Bayern Munich of the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL).
