Niels Giffey is a basketball player who plays the small forward and shooting guard positions for Bayern Munich of the German Basketball Bundesliga (BBL), and the Germany national team.

Born on June 8, 1991, Berlin, Germany, Giffey played high school basketball at Heinrich Schliemann, and had a successful collegiate career at the University of Connecticut.

While at UConn, he joined his team to win the NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournament twice.

After going undrafted in 2014, Giffey played summer basketball with the Memphis Grizzlies and the Utah Jazz.

Giffey was later signed by the German team Alba Berlin, where he served as captain. During his time with the team, he helped them win the German national championship, and the German Cup tournament.

In 2021, Giffey began playing with Žalgiris Kaunas of the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL).

After one season, he joined UCAM Murcia of the Liga ACB on a short-term deal.

In the same year, Giffey signed a three-year contract with Bayern Munich of the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL).
