Nico Ladenis was an award-winning chef who won the Best Chef Award and a Lifetime Achievement Award in 1988 and 2015 respectively, both at the Catey Awards.

Ladenis had also won three Michelin stars which he returned in 1999, following his diagnosis of prostate cancer.

The self-taught chef from Britain was known for his mantra “the customer is not always right”.

Ladenis had many celebrity chefs pass under his tutelage, even though he never attended a culinary school.

He had a booming restaurant chain, “Chez Nico”, one of the highest rated restaurant in the UK, “with a ten out of ten in the Good Food Guide and 5 AA Rosettes.”

Till date, his family still run his businesses.

Ladenis, during his lifetime, worked hard to live up to his personal philosophies – Precision, Restraint, Simplicity and Consistency.
