Nick Fisher (broadcaster) Obituary

Nick Fisher was a TV scriptwriter, journalist, and angler from the United Kingdom.

In 2006, he received a BAFTA award for his work on The Giblet Boys, which was voted Best Drama in the BAFTA Children’s Awards, and was nominated for Best Writer for the same programme.

Fisher appeared on TV with Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, promoting his fishing hobby. In 2007, he and Fearnley-Whittingstall won the André Simon Memorial book award for The River Cottage Fish Book.

He also appeared on River Cottage: Gone Fishing with Fearnley-Whittingstall. Fisher went missing in November 2022 in Hooke, near Bridport, Dorset. On November 17, his body was discovered.

Celebrity chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, a friend and colleague of Fisher’s, said: “I am so very sad to say that our dearest friend Nick Fisher has passed away. He was always full of insight and compassion, which is what made him such a great writer and broadcaster, as well as a brilliant friend.

Fisher had left his home in Hooke, near Bridport, on Tuesday with his brown and white springer spaniel.

Dorset police said, “The death is not being investigated as suspicious, and the coroner’s office has been notified.”
