Nicholas Lyndhurst is an English actor and the son of Joe Lyndhurst and Liz Long.

He was raised in Emsworth, Hampshire. His parents met at a summer camp managed by Lyndhurst’s grandpa, Francis Lyndhurst, a stage scenery painter and film director.
Nicholas Lyndhurst’s parents divorced while he was young, then reconciling and then divorcing.
By the time Lyndhurst was eight, his father, Joe Lyndhurst, had an affair and had a family with another woman, leaving Lyndhurst and his mother “poverty-stricken.”

Nicholas Lyndhurst began his acting career as a child and rose to prominence as Rodney Trotter in the sitcom Only Fools and Horses (1981-2003).
He also had recurring parts on Goodnight Sweetheart (1993-1999, 2016), Going Straight (1978), and After You’ve Gone (2007-2008). He co-starred in the procedural crime drama series New Tricks (2013-2015) and starred in the comedy-drama series Rock & Chips (2010-2011).
Lyndhurst received two National Television Awards for his performance in Goodnight Sweetheart and was nominated for a British Comedy Award and three British Academy Television Awards for his performance in Only Fools and Horses.
