He is the oldest of three siblings, with two sisters.
Rap, according to NF, was an escape for him as a child. He’d use a karaoke machine to record tracks, with instrumentals on one microphone and raps on the other.
He graduated from Gladwin High School in 2009 and played basketball for the school.
NF began his career at the Connecting Church Fine Arts Festival in Canton, Michigan.

With Capitol CMG, NF has released two EPs: I’m Free (2012) and a self-titled EP in 2014. Mansion, his debut major-label album, was released on March 31, 2015.
Therapy Session, his second studio album, was released on April 22, 2016, and peaked at number 12 on the US Billboard 200.
With Perception, NF broke into the mainstream in 2017; the album charted at number one in the United States and was certified platinum, while its third single, “Let You Down,” peaked at number twelve on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and was a top-ten smash globally.
He achieved similar commercial success with his follow-up The Search (2019).
