However, amidst the shadows of adversity, a beacon of light emerged in the form of Sue Benedict, Nex’s grandmother and adoptive mother.

From the tender age of two months, Sue assumed the mantle of caregiver and nurturer, providing Nex with a loving and stable home environment.

A few years before Nex’s tragic passing, Sue formalized her bond with them through legal adoption, solidifying their relationship as mother and child.
