How good is Nélson Semedo?

The average Infogol Player Rating for Nélson Semedo in the English Premier League 2022/23 season was 5.83. The last match for Nélson Semedo was against Arsenal in the English Premier League, when the match result was a 5-0 Wolverhampton Wanderers away loss (Nélson Semedo received a 6.56 Infogol Rating).

Nelson Semedo is good because Impact Semedo really found his role this season and has been one of the few regulars in the squad under Julen Lopetegui, which led to this new contract. He doesn’t get forward a ton, as seen in his six shots and 11 chances created, but the Wolves aren’t really in need of an attacking full-back given their style of play.

Semedo’s main strengths are his pace and agility. He was identified as a player who could help evolve Wolves’ style and that’s already happened in the opening couple of months.

That’s true of both flanks. For the previous two years, Wolves almost exclusively played with Doherty on one flank and Jonny.Castro Otto on the other. With Doherty sold and Jonny still out until at least early 2021, the adaption to new players and new characteristics on both wings is taking time, not helped by a huge number of players filling these roles.

In just nine games, for a variety of reasons including injuries, seven players have featured at wing-back: Semedo, Adama Traore, Ki-Jana Hoever, Fernando Marcal,  Ruben Vinagre, Rayen Ait-Nouri and Romain Saiss.
