What Happened To Neil Simon? Neil Simon was born to Mamie Simon and Irving Simon in The Bronx, New York, on July 4, 1927, and died in Manhattan, New York, on August 26, 2018, at the age of 91 years as a result of pneumonia and kidney failure.

Neil Simon battled kidney-related issues for many years in the latter parts of his life and even underwent a kidney transplant.

In addition to battling kidney-related issues, Neil Simon was reported to have battled Alzheimer’s disease for some period of time.

Neil Simon spent several weeks undergoing treatment at the New York–Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan, New York, but could not recover successfully.
