Neil Fachie Disability: Which Disability Does Neil Fachie Have?

Neil Fachie was born in Aberdeen with a congenital eye condition, retinitis pigmentosa, Fachie. Fachie took up athletics at the age of 24 and ran for Great Britain in the 100 and 200m sprints at the 2008 Paralympics in Beijing before deciding to make the switch to track cycling.

Congenital eye conditions are a group of various conditions present from birth and could affect eyesight. Some of these conditions are passed on through genes, while others could result from disease or deficiency during pregnancy.

Fachie entered two Paralympics as a sprinter organised in the 2008 Games in Beijing and as a tandem cyclist in London in 2012.

Neil also has a World and Games record of winning both Time Trial and Sprint at Gold Coast 2018 with pilot Matt Rotherham in Sprint qualifying and a Games record in the Time Trial.
