Nyarko is accused of offering what the NDC alleges to be a bribe to Electoral Commission (EC) officials during the recent Ejisu by-election on April 30, 2024.

Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Secretary of the NDC, expressed concern over the incident, which gained significant attention on social media and in the press.

Despite Nyarko denying any intent to compromise the officials or the electoral process, the NDC plans to pursue the matter through legal channels, including engagement with the Special Prosecutor and the Privileges Committee of Parliament.

“We demand transparency and accountability from the EC,” the NDC statement declared. “We call upon the EC to disclose the names and polling stations where these officers were deployed, as we suspect a hasty attempt to conceal the truth.”

In response, the EC confirmed the incident at the Fumesua Pentecost Church polling station and announced the removal of the two temporary staff involved pending investigation. Subsequently, the EC referred the matter to the police for criminal investigation.
