Nancy Pelosi was the only girl and the youngest of seven children of Annunciata M Nancy D’Alexandro and Thomas D’Alexandro Jr.

Pelosi was involved in politics from an early age. She helped her father at his campaign events. Nancy Pelosi later in her career, started serving as speaker of the United States House of Representatives in 2019, and previously from 2007 to 2011.

She has served as a US representative from California since 1987. A member of the Democratic Party, Pelosi is the only woman in the US to serve as speaker of the House.

Pelosi announced in January 2022 that she would seek reelection as a US representative that year, though she had pledged in 2018 to not seek the speakership again.
