Monica Abbott, a former professional softball player from the United States, was born on July 28, 1985. Prior to beginning a professional career in the NPF and the Japan Softball League, Abbott was an All-American pitcher for the Tennessee Lady Volunteers in college. She has represented the United States since 2005 in international competition, helping the national softball team capture silver medals in the 2008 and 2020 Summer Olympics.

In the NCAA Division I, Abbott leads in victories, strikeouts, shutouts, and innings pitched.
Abbott was highly sought after by other institutions, but she ultimately chose the University of Tennessee because of how they treated their female athletes. Abbott, a communications major, played pitcher for the University of Tennessee Lady Volunteers softball team from 2004 to 2007.
