A professional softball player from the United States is named Monica Cecilia Abbott. She represented Team USA at the Olympics after the national softball team took home the silver medal.

On July 28, 1985, in Santa Cruz, California, Monica was born. She attended North Salinas High School until 2003. She was a member of the Vikings squad that won three Division I CIF Central Coast Section championships while she was there. Monica was the recipient of the Sports Focus Athlete of the Year and the Cal-Hi Softball Athlete of the Year awards, which both served as examples of her talent. She also twice took home the Salinas Californian Athlete of the Year award.
