Rapper MoneySign Suede died Tuesday after he was stabbed in a shower at a California prison, authorities and his attorney said. Suede, born Jaime Brugada Valdez to Mexican parents was found in the shower area of the Correctional Training Facility in Soledad shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday, according to a statement from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. He was 22 years.

In a statement, CDCR officials said the rapper was found unresponsive just before 10 p.m. after correctional officers found that he was not in his cell during a regular count. Officials said he was found “with injuries consistent with a homicide.”
Following Suede’s death, his family posted on Instagram:

“We appreciate the sympathies. Our family has not put up a gofundme. Don’t fall for any scammers.”
Since releasing his debut self-titled album in March 2022, the 22-year-old has gained popularity in recent years. He released Parkside Baby and Parkside Santa in the same year.
Suede was a Los Angeles, California native of Mexican descent who was signed to Atlantic Records and best known for his songs RETURN TO THE BAG, She Going Chose, and Veteran.
Suede began making and sharing rap music when he was 16 years old.
