He was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the second round of the 2014 MLB Draft. Keller quickly made his way through the Pirates’ minor league system, showcasing his strong pitching abilities and repertoire of pitches.
On May 26, 2019, he was promoted to the major leagues and made his debut against the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park, giving up six earned runs in four innings while walking two and striking out seven.

Keller had a 6.61 ERA in 32+23 innings of work to start the 2022 season. However, after adding a sinker to his arsenal, Keller went on to pitch for a 3.21 ERA and 3.67 FIP over his final 126+13 innings.
During the 2022 season, Keller pitched to an ERA of 3.91, struck out 138 hitters, and had a Wins Above Replacement value of 2.1 across 159 innings.
Keller agreed to a one-year, $2.4375 million contract with the Pirates on January 13, 2023, avoiding salary arbitration. He was selected Pittsburgh’s opening-day starter for the upcoming season on March 15, 2023.
