According to the Coast Guard Official, they were able to rescue two persons while a third swam to safety before rescuers arrived. However, a fourth man was still missing in the sea.
Wildwood Fire Department Chief Ernie Troiano III advised residents not to swim if there are no lifeguards on duty. He also suggested that anyone caught in a rip current swim parallel to the ocean rather than towards the coast.
“Whether you’re a good swimmer or not, don’t get into the ocean if the beach isn’t secured,” Troiano said.
