Miles Teller and two friends were driving home from a music festival in 2007 when their car crashed.
“My buddy lost control of my car while it was going 80 miles per hour,” Miles told ABC in 2016. “We did eight flips.” I was thrown out the window.
When the car landed, I was about 50 feet away, unconscious and covered in blood. “My pal thought I was dead.”

Miles still has the scars on his face, as well as two pieces of gravel embedded in his cheeks, years later. The doctors decided against removing the rocks because they were concerned that it would cause more scarring.
Miles had to undergo laser treatments for about three years after the accident to try to reduce some of the scarrings. In an interview with Esquire, he described the experience as “very painful.”
