Mike Leigh: Meet Alison Steadman First Husband

Mike Leigh is an English film and theatre director, screenwriter and playwright.

Mike Leigh OBE FRSL was born on February 20, 1943, in Brocket Hall, Hatfield, United Kingdom. Mike Leigh is 79 years old as of 2022.

Mike Leigh was born to his parents, Alfred Abraham Leigh and Phyllis Pauline Cousin. He studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.

Mike Leigh also studied at the Camberwell School of Art, the Central School of Art and Design and the London School of Film Technique.

Some of Mike Leigh’s notable works include the black comedy-drama Naked (1993), for which he won the Best Director Award at Cannes.

Mike Leigh is also known for the Oscar-nominated, BAFTA- and Palme d’Or-winning drama Secrets & Lies (1996), the Golden Lion-winning working-class drama Vera Drake (2004), and the Palme d’Or-nominated biopic Mr Turner (2014).

Director Mike Leigh and Alison Steadman married in 1973. The two had two sons, Toby (b. 1978) and Leo (b. 1981). Mike Leigh and Alison Steadman got separated in 1995 before divorcing in 2001.
