He landed the job over former Warriors coach and ESPN analyst Marc Jackson, who was considered to be one of the other finalists to fill the vacancy.

Brown took over a Kings squad that has a clear goal in mind: to end Sacramento’s 16-year postseason absence, which is the league’s longest active stretch. The Kings are coming off a season in which they finished 12th in the Western Conference with a 30–52 record.

Brown spent eight seasons as the head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Los Angeles Lakers before joining the Warriors in 2016.

During the 2006-07 season, Brown led the Cavs to their first NBA Finals appearance and compiled a 347-216 overall record with the two teams.
