Mikael Granlund Parents: Meet Vesa Granlund and Minna Granlund

A Finnish professional ice hockey center with the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League, Mikael Antero Granlund was born on February 26, 1992. (NHL). His past employers included the Minnesota Wild of the NHL, Oulun Kärpät of the SM-liiga, and HIFK. He also played professionally in Finland. At the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, the Wild made him their ninth-round pick.

Granlund competed in junior ice hockey with Oulun Kärpät in 2007–08 and 2008–09, averaging more than a point per contest in both years. In 2009, his junior A league selected him to the first team of All-Stars.

Late in the campaign, he made his debut with Kärpät’s squad in the SM-liiga at the age of 17, gaining his first professional experience.

Vesa and Minna Granlund are Mikael Granlund’s parents. The visit by Minna and Vesa Granlund to Markus, the younger, was scheduled to coincide with Tuesday’s Wild-Canucks hockey game. With 8 goals and 33 assists in his sophomore season, Granlund’s performance improved. Granlund was transferred to Minnesota’s top line halfway through the season, when he usually played alongside Jason Pominville and Zach Parise. Granlund’s goal in overtime on April 21, 2014, helped the Wild defeat Colorado in a playoff match.
