Miikka Kiprusoff began his professional career in Finland’s SM-liiga, playing for TPS Turku. He was drafted by the San Jose Sharks in the fifth round of the 1995 NHL Entry Draft but didn’t make his NHL debut until the 2000-2001 season.

During his NHL career, Kiprusoff played for the San Jose Sharks and the Calgary Flames. His time with the Calgary Flames, which spanned from 2003 to 2013, was the most successful period of his career.

In the 2003-2004 season, he helped lead the Flames to the Stanley Cup Finals, where they ultimately lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning. Kiprusoff’s outstanding play throughout the playoffs earned him the Conn Smythe Trophy as the postseason’s Most Valuable Player.

He holds numerous franchise records for the Calgary Flames, including most wins in a season (45), most career shutouts (41), and the lowest single-season GAA (1.69). Miikka Kiprusoff retired from professional hockey on September 9, 2013, after a successful career.
