Mickey Moniak is an American professional baseball player who currently plays as an outfielder for the Los Angeles Angels in the MLB. He is the son of Matt Moniak and Heather Moniak.

His father Matt, played at San Diego State. His parents have always been supportive of his career in baseball. Mickey revealed in an interview that his done never pressured him to play.
“My Dad has never pushed me to play baseball,” Mickey said. “He’s always let me do my own thing. His thing was to say, ‘Go out and have fun. You can’t put pressure on yourself. Whatever happens, you’re still a human being. Baseball’s not everything.”
Mickey Moniak’s grandfather, Bill Moniak, played six years in the Boston Red Sox organization. Mickey attended La Costa Canyon High School in Carlsbad, California where he played centre field for the baseball team.

He was named High School Player of the Year by Baseball America, Gatorade California Baseball Player of the Year, and San Diego Section Player of the Year. He was chosen first overall by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2016 MLB drafts.
Moniak made his MLB debut on September 16, 2020, becoming the 68th player in MLB history to make their debut as the first overall pick. Moniak was traded to the Los Angeles Angels on August 2, 2022, along with prospect Jadiel Sanchez, for starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard.
