Michelle began playing golf at the age of four and announced her intention to turn professional just before she turned sixteen. Wie was the youngest golfer to win an adult USGA-sanctioned tournament (the 2003 U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links, at the age of 13) and to compete in the Curtis Cup (2004, at the age of 14).
