Michael Mayer is a football player from Independence, Kentucky, who was born on July 6, 2001. He went to Covington Catholic High School in Park Hills, Kentucky, where he was a standout football player.

Mayer had a tremendous senior season in 2019, catching 49 passes for 970 yards and 15 touchdowns, earning him the Gatorade Kentucky Football Player of the Year award. He was also chosen to compete in the 2020 All-American Bowl.
Mayer committed to play college football at the University of Notre Dame after graduating from high school. He had a strong rookie year in 2020, starting at tight end for the team.
