Born on January 11, 1978, Before joining Cheltenham in 1994, he represented North Yorkshire and attended the Darlington Football Club School of Excellence.
Duff was spotted playing for Carterton Town by Cheltenham Town scout Derek Bragg and was persuaded to join Cheltenham, who were then in the Southern League, by Mike Davis, the youth team manager.
He went on loan to Cirencester Town before returning to Cheltenham when Steve Cotterill was appointed manager.
He became a regular with Cheltenham Town, appearing in 242 games and scoring 15 goals, including a 93rd-minute winner in a 3-2 home victory against Yeovil Town in 1999, which won Cheltenham Town’s promotion to the Football League.
