Michael Che is a stand-up comedian, actor, and writer from the United States. He is best known for his work on Saturday Night Live, where he co-anchors Weekend Update with Colin Jost and was co-head writer from 2017 to 2022.

Che earned $25,000 per episode as a cast member and writer on Saturday Night Live in 2014. Given that he  appears on all 21 episodes once a year, he earns around $525,000 per season.

Michael Che began performing stand-up comedy in 2009, and in 2012, he appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman.

In 2013, he became a writer for Saturday Night Live. In June 2014, he made his on-screen debut as a correspondent on The Daily Show. Despite appearing in only nine segments, he was recognized for his efforts.

Che was then promoted to the main cast during the third season, and in December 2017, he was named the show’s co-head writer.

Che announced his departure from the desk after the current season at a stand-up show on March 26, 2022, but he did not specify when or why.
