After being pulled from the river near Darley Abbey Mills, 87-year-old Michael Carey was transported to the hospital, but he passed away shortly after, according to Derbyshire Constabulary.

Memorable Melodies was hosted by Mr. Carey, a local resident, for almost 20 years on BBC Radio Derby till he decided to leave the role in 2019. He may have gotten into the river for unknown reasons, which the police are looking into.
