Mumbi Mugo and Njeri Mugoare the surviving children of Kenyan author, Micere Githae Mugo. There is very little information about them currently. Information about their ages, and more is unknown.

Githae Mugo was a political activist who fought against human rights abuses in Kenya. Her political activism led her to being harassed by the police and arrested. She and her family were forced to depart Kenya in 1982. She left with her daughters – Mumbi Mugo and Njeri Mugoare.

She was a distinguished poet and the author/editor of 15 books. Her work is generally from a traditional African, Pan-African, and feminist perspective, and draws heavily upon indigenous African cultural traditions.
Some of her books include My Mother’s Poem and Other Songs, African Orature and human rights, Daughter of my people, Sing!, Writing and Speaking from the Heart of My Mind, Mzalendo Kimalth, and more.
Githae Mugo was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award in African Literature by the Royal African Society in 2021.
