Mia Maro Death: Chicago father arrested in 17-year-old’s killing

Mohammed Almaru, 42, has been charged with felony first-degree murder in the death of his 17-year-old daughter Mia Maro, who was discovered dead inside her Tinley Park home on Sunday, May 1 according to police.

At around 5 p.m., police were called to the home for a death investigation. Maro was found in the lower level of the house, where she had suffered multiple injuries when they arrived. At the scene, she was pronounced dead.

According to authorities, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that her death was a homicide as a result of multiple injuries.

Authorities also discovered Almaru, who had self-inflicted wrist and throat wounds. According to authorities, he also ingested pills and was taken to a local hospital, where his condition was stabilised.

As a result of his injuries, Almaru was intubated at the hospital, and police were not able to question him until Monday, May 2 afternoon. He is still being treated for his injuries.

Authorities have charged him with the murder of his daughter based on interrogation and evidence gathered at the scene.
