MHD is a French rapper noted for fusing trap music with West African music, a genre he termed “Afro Trap.”

He is the son of Mamidie Diop Sylla and Mamadou Sylla. His mother is Senegalese and his father is from Guinea.
As a child, he and his family would frequently listen to African music, citing inspirations such as Papa Wemba, Koffi Olomide, Salif Keita, and Awilo Longomba
MHD began his career as a rapper in Paris at the age of 18 after being born in Vendée to a family of West African descent.
MDH rose to prominence in the mid-2010s thanks to content he shared on social media most notably music videos on YouTube, and in 2016 he launched his debut album MHD, which sold over 200,000 copies in six months.

He later gained international notoriety and toured in Guinea, England, Senegal, and Morocco. In September 2018, his second album, named 19, was published.
Following an investigation into a murder case from 2018, MHD was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in January 2019.
A three-week trial in September 2023 resulted in his conviction for murder on September 23 and a sentence of 12 years in prison, with no possibility of appeal.
