His nose measured 8.8 centimeters (3.5 inches) when it was measured on March 18, 2010. It was measured again in 2020 and 2021, where a change was undetected, disproving the myth that a person’s nose and ears continue to grow with age.

According to sources, the person with the longest nose ever to exist was an English man named Thomas Wedders who lived in the 1770s. His nose reportedly measured 19 centimeters  7.5 inches long.

I love my nose of course… I have been blessed. I am extremely pleased to represent Turkey, the Black Sea, or Artvin on an international scale. Some become martyrs, some become Prime Ministers and some become record holders,” Özyürek said during an interview with Guinness World Records.

He also claimed that he had a better sense of smell than the average person and was also able to inflate a balloon with his nose.
