Meg Johnson (Emmerdale) obituary – Actress Meg Johnson, who appeared in three of the UK’s most popular soap operas, has died at the age of 86. She appeared as Eunice Gee in Coronation Street, Brigid McKenna in Brookside, and Pearl Ladderbanks in Emmerdale.

Meg was born on 30 September 1936 and died on 1 July 2023 aged 86.
A statement shared by her family said: “It is with great sadness that we announce that actress Meg Johnson passed away peacefully yesterday evening surrounded by her family. Meg was a kind and wonderful lady, full of warmth and always with a twinkle in her eye. Meg had an outstanding career that ended with her playing Pearl in Emmerdale.“

Johnson spent several years as Brigid McKenna in the Channel 4 serial drama Brookside before joining Emmerdale.
She played Eunice Gee in ITV’s Coronation Street in the early 1980s, a role she briefly resurrected in 1999.
She also appeared in Victoria Wood As Seen on TV, alongside the late comedian, Dame Julie Walters, and Celia Imrie.
She was married to the ITV Granada continuity announcer Charles Foster.
