Meg Johnson (Emmerdale) cause of death – Actress Meg Johnson, who appeared as Eunice Gee in Coronation Street, Brigid McKenna in Brookside, and Pearl Ladderbanks in Emmerdale died on July 1, 2023, at age 86 following a long battle with dementia. A statement by her family which announced her death said that she ”battled on personally and professionally” following her dementia diagnosis.

Born on September 30, 1936, in Manchester, Meg had a variety of TV appearances before making her Coronation Street debut as Brenda Holden in 1976.

She went on to join the cast of the soap as Eunice Gee in 1981, a role she would reprise multiple times over the next two decades.

She also appeared in Victoria Wood: As Seen On TV in the mid-1980s, alongside the late comedian, Dame Julie Walters, and Celia Imrie, and in 1997, she joined the original cast of the London revival of Chicago, playing prison warder Matron Mama Morton for over a year.

In 2000, she was cast as Brigid McKenna in Channel 4’s Brookside, playing the role until the soap’s cancellation in 2003, when she moved on to Emmerdale, where she portrayed the much-loved character Pearl Ladderbanks for 17 years.

She was married to English actor and ITV Granada television presenter Charles Foster from 1981 until his death in February 2023.
