In 2016, McKenna Kelley embarked on her collegiate gymnastics journey by joining the LSU Tigers gymnastics team. Specializing in the floor exercise, she competed in 13 of the 14 meets that season. Her contribution was pivotal in helping the Tigers secure a victory at the SEC Championship, and she earned SEC All-Freshman honors. Her standout performance extended to the 2016 NCAA Gymnastics Championship, where she played a key role in the Tigers’ second-place finish.

The following year, in 2017, McKenna continued to shine on the floor exercise, contributing consistently to the team’s success. Her career-high score of 9.975 against George Washington and Iowa and her SEC Championship performance, where she earned the event title, made her a formidable presence in the Tigers’ lineup. At the 2017 NCAA Gymnastics Championship, her score of 9.9 on the floor exercise added to the Tigers’ second-place finish, and she was recognized with first-team All-America honors.

The 2018 season presented a significant challenge for McKenna Kelley when an Achilles tendon injury, sustained during preseason training, sidelined her. This setback forced her to sit out the entire season, putting her resilience to the test.

In 2019, after recovering from her injury, McKenna made a triumphant return to the gymnastics floor. Her performance on the vault, balance beam, and floor exercise showcased her unwavering determination. Notably, she achieved a perfect 10 on the floor exercise against Oregon State, earning SEC Specialist of the Week honors.

At the 2019 NCAA Gymnastics Championship, McKenna Kelley contributed significantly to the Tigers’ second-place team finish, excelling on the vault and floor exercise. For her outstanding work on the floor exercise, she received second-team All-America honors.
