Born and raised in Ethiopia during the 1980s, Mazi experienced a childhood marked by simplicity and resourcefulness.

Her family navigated life with limited amenities, lacking essentials such as running water and modern conveniences like microwaves and cars.

Despite the challenges they faced, the Pilip family found solace and connection in the observance of Shabbat, a cherished tradition that provided a moment of respite and reflection amidst their daily struggles.

In 1991, at the age of 12, Mazi embarked on a transformative journey as a refugee, immigrating to Israel alongside her family as part of Operation Solomon.
