While the names of her parents remain undisclosed, Mazi’s upbringing in a small village paints a vivid picture of resilience, cultural heritage, and the pursuit of education amidst adversity.

Born and raised in Ethiopia during the 1980s, Mazi experienced a childhood marked by simplicity and resourcefulness.

Her family navigated life with limited amenities, lacking essentials such as running water and modern conveniences like microwaves and cars.

In 1991, at the age of 12, Mazi embarked on a transformative journey as a refugee, immigrating to Israel alongside her family as part of Operation Solomon.

Settling in Israel, Mazi found herself immersed in a new culture and environment, alongside her three sisters, all of whom reside in Israel to this day.

Upon reaching adulthood, Mazi’s commitment to service and duty led her to enlist in the Israel Defense Forces’ Paratroopers Brigade, where she served as a gunsmith.

Her military service instilled in her a sense of discipline, resilience, and camaraderie, shaping her into the determined leader she is today.

Following her honorable discharge from the military, Mazi pursued higher education at the University of Haifa, where she distinguished herself as the chairwoman of the Ethiopian Student Union and earned a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy.

Her academic journey continued at Tel Aviv University, where she earned a master’s degree in diplomacy and security, further honing her skills and knowledge in preparation for a career dedicated to public service.
