May Blood, Baroness Blood, MBE was a British politician who served as a Labour peer in the House of Lords from 31 July 1999 to 4 September 2018.

Mary Blood was born in Belfast on May 26, 1938, and lived with her mother and sister on Magnetic Street, a cross-community area of Belfast.
Her father worked in a shipyard, but he was away in the army for the first six years of Blood’s life.
She attended Donegall Road Methodist Church Primary School before transferring to Sandy Row’s Linfield Secondary School.

Blood received honorary doctorates from Ulster University in 1998, Queen’s University Belfast in 2000, and the Open University in 2001.
Blood established the Northern Ireland Women’s Coalition (NIWC). She was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire in the 1995 Birthday Honours (MBE).
Watch My Lips, I’m Speaking, her autobiography was published in 2007. Baroness Blood, died on October 21, 2022, at the age of 84.
