Track cyclist from Australia named Matthew Glaetzer was born on August 24, 1992. In addition to competing in the 2012 World Championship team sprint with Scott Sunderland and Shane Perkins, he also took part in the team sprint competition at the 2012 Summer Olympics.

At the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Summer Olympics, Glaetzer competed on behalf of Australia in the men’s sprint, men’s keirin, and men’s team sprint competitions.
Glaetzer was the first rider to ever break the 1:00 minute barrier for a 1 km time trial at a velodrome at sea level on November 12, 2017, during the World Cup competition in Manchester.

Glaetzer won the men’s keirin gold medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. The quarterfinal round of the men’s sprint saw him eliminated. He won the men’s 1 km time trial the following day for gold.
