Matthew Phillip Prater (born August 10, 1984) is an American football placekicker for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League (NFL). Regarded as one of the best long-distance kickers in NFL history.

Known for John tongue-in-cheek wit as well as colorful illustrations, John Prater was a self-described failure as a graphics illustrator and school teacher. “Third time lucky,” he once told SATA, “I became a not-so-far-failed children’s book illustrator and writer.”
Matthew Phillip Prater held the NFL record for longest field goal (64 yards) from 2013 until 2021 and currently holds the NFL record for most 50+ yard field goals in a career.
