Matt Carpenter was born on November 26, 1985, in Texas, to his parents Rick and Tammie Carpenter.

Matt’s father, Rick, played college baseball and eventually became a high school coach.
Rick functioned as a coach at La Marque High School and later coached Lawrence E. Elkins High School for fifteen years.
Under his tutelage, the baseball team won numerous championships, including nine at the district level, six regional, three state, and one national.
Rick has also served as coach to James Loney, Kip Wells and Chad Huffman.
Rick retired in 2019, after serving as coach at Prosper High School, Dallas.

His mother was a softball player during her school days. She currently works as a real estate agent.

Matt Carpenter Early Days With Baseball
Matt began playing while at Elkins High School, and won the all-state tournament twice.
In 2002, he led his team to a 35–1 record and the USA Today National Prep Championship.
The same year, he was named the District Sophomore of the Year that year, and till date, he has the most career hits in the history of his Alma mater.
In 2004, he was named a 2004 TPX second-team High School All-American.
Matt continued to play after gaining admission into Texas Christian University (TCU), where he studied communications.
As a freshman, Matt played 50 games and batted .289, 27 runs batted in (RBI), eight doubles (2B) and one home run (HR) with 11 multi-hit games and eight multiple-RBI games.
