Manchester United have suspended Mason Greenwood until further notice after news broke on social media that he has allegedly assaulted his girlfriend.

A statement issued by the football club indicated that Mason will not return to training or play any matches for the team until further notice. A spokesperson for the club said the club does not condone violence of any kind.

Part of the statement said, “We are aware of images and allegations circulating on social media. We will not make any further comments until facts have been established. Manchester United does not condone violence of any kind.
A statement from the Greater Manchester Police confirmed that a man in his 20s had been arrested on suspicion of rape and assault.
