Alexander Plunket Greene was the husband of late hot pants designer Mary Quant.

Alexander and Mary had attended the same Goldsmiths College, and later became business partners.
Alexander was also a grandson of the Irish singer Harry Plunket Greene.
He and Mary got married in 1957, and had a son named Orlando, who was born in 1969.
Alexander passed away in 1990.

Quant who began by running a boutique, ended up rubbing shoulders with the likes of Chanel and Dior.
Her miniskirt and other collection of hers gained attention from media like Harper’s Bazaar.
Quant innovated the coloured and patterned tights, short shorts, and hot pants, and therefore, she became an icon in the industry.
As of 1967, Quant was known to design berets in twelve colours for British headwear company Kangol, which carried her daisy logo.
She also delved into household goods, make-up, and duvet.
In 2000, Quant resigned as director of her company, Mary Quant Ltd, after she sold it to a Japanese. Today, “there are over 200 Mary Quant Colour shops in Japan.”
Quant passed away on April 13, 2023, at her Surrey residence. She was aged 93.
