Mary Anne Trump, the mother of Donald Trump passed away on August 7, 2000, at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, New York.

She died at age 88.
Mary’s cause of death was not stated but as she aged, she suffered from severe osteoporosis.
Sometime in 1991, she was mugged while shopping on Union Turnpike not far from her home.
In an attempt to struggle with the mugger, she was severely beaten and had her ribs broken, sustained bruises on her face, several fractures, a brain hemorrhage, and a loss of sight and hearing.

The assailant, one Paul LoCasto, 16, was arrested for the robbery and assault, and was sentenced to nine years in prisonment.

Mary was married to real-estate developer Fred Trump, after she moved to the United States in 1930.
Fred Trump died at age 93 in June 1999, after battling pneumonia.
When Mary passed on the following year, she was buried beside her husband and son (Fred Jr.), who died before then of alcoholism.
