Musical icon of L.A lounge, Marty Roberts, has died of cancer at the age of 89. His wife Elayne used to be his musical partner whom he met in L.A sometime in the 70s.

For almost 40 years, six nights a week, the couple put on a show at the Dresden Lounge in Los Feliz. Marty crooned and played the drums and standup bass, while Elayne stayed on the piano and flute, winding him up sweetly.

In January 2020, Roberts had a heart attack while performing at the lounge. Elayne kept on playing as a solo until the pandemic. Roberts had also been a radio disc jockey, songwriter, TV personality, and actor before he died.
Roberts was born on April 10, 1932, in New York City. He died on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at his daughter’s Hali Gillin’s home in Henderson, Nev.
“He had a joke and a smile for everyone he met and was the kindest and most self-sacrificing man in the world”, his daughter Hali had said.
