Martin Amis was a British novelist, essayist, memoirist, and screenwriter. He was well known for his works Money and London Fields.

He won the James Tait Black Memorial Prize for his memoir Experience and was nominated for the Booker Prize thrice.
According to Amis, his father was uninterested in his work. “I can point out exactly where he stopped and sent Money twirling through the air; that’s where the character named Martin Amis comes in.”

Amis said in The New Republic in 2012 that he was “moving house” from Camden Town in London to Cobble Hill.
He had a property in Lake Worth Beach, Florida, where he died from oesophageal cancer on May 19, 2023, at the age of 73.

Amis died at his home in Lake Worth, Fla., according to his longtime agent Andrew Wylie. The cause was oesophageal cancer. He was 73 years old at the time of his death.
