Marta, is a Brazilian soccer legend and an icon of women’s football. She is the daughter of Tereza da Silva and Aldário da Silva.

Marta’s siblings are José, Valdir, and Angela. Her father abandoned the family when she was one year old and she was raised by a single mother.
The future Brazilian football queen suffered from poverty, hunger, and even abuse from her brothers, who taunted the girl who loved “futebol” more than anything else in the world.

Her mother and grandma, on the other hand, would not let her give up her dream. Her rise to prominence began in the early 2000s when she joined the Brazilian Women’s National Team, becoming a critical player in their attacking force.

Marta’s exceptional dribbling skills, speed, and goal-scoring ability made her a nightmare for defenders. Marta’s club career also saw significant success. She made her mark playing for the Swedish club Umeå IK, where she became a dominant force in the Damallsvenskan league.
Marta is widely considered to be the greatest female footballer of all time. She has been named FIFA World Player of the Year six times, five of which were consecutive (from 2006 to 2010), with the most recent being in 2018.
