Maro Itoje, full name Oghenemaro Miles Itoje, was born on October 28, 1994, in Camden, to Nigerian parents. He stands 6ft 5in (195cm) tall and weighs 18st 2lb (115kg).
He began playing rugby at the age of 11 after being introduced to the sport at secondary school St George’s in Harpenden, where England teammates Owen Farrell and George Ford also attended.

He represented England at the U17 level in the shot put and basketball before settling on rugby.
Itoje played for England at the U18 level and captained the England U20 team in the 2013-14 season. He scored a try in each of England’s Six Nations Under 20s Championship games in 2014, earning him the title of Man of the Tournament.

Itoje also won the 2014 IRB Junior World Championship with England, co-captaining the team throughout the tournament.
Itoje was called up to the England Saxons squad on 21 January 2015 and made his debut on 30 January 2015 against the Ireland Wolfhounds.
Itoje was named to England’s 2015 Rugby World Cup training squad and received his first senior England call-up from new coach Eddie Jones on January 13, 2016, for the 2016 Six Nations Championship. He went on to make his first-team debut against Italy and was named Man of the Match in the win over Wales on March 12, 2016. England went on to complete the Grand Slam. Itoje was also a key player in the summer series victory over Australia, starting all three Tests.
